Your privacy

Privacy policy.

RealMates is a campaign by The Great Friendship Project. This policy explains how information is used when you visit, take the quiz, contact us or sign up for news. For privacy questions, email info@friendship-project.co.uk.

What we collect and why

  • Quiz: all 20 answers, including an age band and whether you identify as male, scores and completion time. The quiz does not ask for your name or email. We use responses to understand friendship habits and improve the campaign, relying on our legitimate interest in campaign research. Share only what you are comfortable sharing.
  • Contact: name, email, topic, message and submission time. We use these to respond to enquiries and manage the campaign, relying on our legitimate interest in responding to you. Avoid sensitive information about yourself or others.
  • Newsletter: email, sign-up time and consent record. With your consent, we use your email to send RealMates campaign news. Signing up is optional and separate from the quiz. Withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.
  • Website usage: Microsoft Clarity may collect device and browser details, visits, clicks, scrolling and session recordings. Hosting and error-monitoring services process technical information needed to run and protect the website.

Where information goes

Quiz answers, contact messages and newsletter sign-ups are stored in Google Sheets. Contact messages are also sent to FormSubmit for an email copy to the team. Lovable provides website hosting and the connection to Google Sheets. Microsoft provides Clarity analytics, and Google Fonts supplies the heading font. These providers may process information outside the UK, under their applicable privacy terms and transfer safeguards.

We do not publish individual quiz responses or contact messages as stories without permission. This website does not link newsletter sign-ups to quiz answers.

Cookies and analytics

Clarity currently loads automatically. It may use cookies or similar technologies to understand website use. This policy is not a cookie-consent choice. You can restrict cookies through your browser, although this may affect some services. Read Microsoft's privacy statement for more information.

How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for its stated purpose and applicable legal obligations. You can ask us to delete a contact message or remove you from the newsletter. Because the quiz does not collect a name or email, we may be unable to identify your particular response.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests and receive certain information in a portable format. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier processing.

For requests, email info@friendship-project.co.uk. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change. The date above shows when it was last updated.
